Have you always wanted a deeper appreciation of our Church’s languages and heritage? St. John Cantius’ language classes offer a chance to begin or to continue your study of the language and history of the Church.

Year of Grace

Volume 5 of the Church's Year of Grace - September 17, 2023 through November 5, 2023 in 8 sessions. Classes are Sunday's from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Classes will take place in the Library.

Greek Classes

For Greek classes, the 2023 fall semester begins on September 9, 2023 and ends on December 16, 2023, with no class on October 21 and November 25.

The class will be held virtually.

INTRODUCTION TO ATTIC GREEK CONT’D Instructor: Richard Rodriguez

Classes start September 9, 2023

This is a continuation of the rigorous course in the dialect of ancient Greek that developed into the Koine Greek of the New Testament.

For Hebrew classes, the 2023 fall semester begins on September 9, 2023 and ends on December 16, 2023 with no class on October 21 and November 25.

The class will be held virtually.

BIBLICAL HEBREW CONT’D Instructor: Richard Rodriguez

Classes start September 9, 2023

This is a formal grammatical introduction to the type of Hebrew used in the Old Testament. Please note: It is different from Modern Hebrew. The course is designed and paced for working adults who have other responsibilities to prioritize during the week. As such, the entire course is estimated to take approximately 3 years, which will cover all the grammar in the textbook and allow the student thorough access to the original texts.

Latin Classes

The 2023 in-person fall semester begins on September 17, 2023 and ends on December 17, 2023.

All classes will be held in person (with one exception – see final offering below). Unless otherwise stated below, all classes meet on Sundays in the St Joseph Building at 1025 W. Fry St., Chicago, IL. Enter the building from the south door between the St Joseph Building and the Church. There is no entry directly from the street.
