This Feast of the Annunciation, the Canons Regular invite the faithful for a special candlelight, Latin High Mass at 5 a.m. to honor the Blessed Virgin. This special Mass is called the Missa Aurea, or Golden Mass.
This year we join the Church in celebrating the “golden mystery” of our Faith: Mary’s fiat at the Annunciation which ushered in the Incarnation of the Second Person of the Trinity in her womb. On this day, the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.
Candles will be provided to emphasize the interplay of light and darkness at this early morning Mass which conveys the meaning of the Incarnation of Christ into our darkened world of sin.
The Mass schedule for the day is as follows:
5:00 am - Missa Aurea (1962 Missal)
7:00 am - Sung Mass (2002 Missal)
8:00 am - Low Mass (1962 Missal)
7:30 pm - High Mass (1962 Missal)
