Wiffle Ball Classic Highlights from 2020
Memorial Day is here again, and it is time for another Canons Regular of St. John Cantius Wiffle Ball Classic! So buckle up, grab friend, and come down to St. John Cantius Church to witness the The Red Rascals seek to take the title from the Blue Bandits on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30th at 11:00 AM CDT. The Canons are starting the day with the recitation of the Divine Office at 7:30 AM, followed by the celebration of Holy Mass at 8:00AM. After that, they will be hard at work setting up for the big game which begins 11:00 AM. Tune in to hear the National Anthems of the United States, Canada, and Poland, to honor the home countries of all players.
It was a long off-season for the Red Rascals as they sought to regroup after last year's loss to the Blue Bandits. While the team names are the same as last year, the rosters have changed. There were some mid-season trades, injuries, and a whole cast of new players. Last years game was neck and neck battle, it looks like we will be in for another intense battle this year. The Blue Bandits will be managed by Br. Marko and the Red Rascals by Br. Nathaniel.
"Was I disappointed with last years loss?" said Menard. "Let me put it this way...I haven't had a good night sleep since the loss." The new manager for the Blue Bandits, Br. Marko, had this to say about the upcoming game: "I only play sports. I never lose. It's not an option." Strong words from the new novice and manager, but I guess that is what it takes to win. Right now we are just praying for good weather so we can witness these two giants battle it out on the field. You are not going to want to miss this!
