Missa Aurea or Golden Mass March 25th 5 AM

This Feast of the Annunciation, the Canons Regular invited the faithful for a special candlelight, Latin High Mass with Gregorian Chant at 5 a.m. to honor the Blessed Virgin. This special Mass is called the Missa Aurea, or Golden Mass.

This year, at Our Lady of Fatima altar, we joined the Church in celebrating the “golden mystery” of our Faith: Mary’s fiat at the Annunciation which ushered in the Incarnation of the Second Person of the Trinity in her womb. On this day, the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.

Candles were provided to emphasize the interplay of light and darkness at this early morning Mass which conveys the meaning of the Incarnation of Christ into our darkened world of sin.
