From the Organ Loft

We are approaching a thrilling choral year at St. John Cantius Church. Our renowned Sacred Music program this Fall will feature works of great composers—ranging from the Renaissance to the 21st century.

Maestro Ugo Spanu, organ professor at Italy’s Conservatory of Sassari and acclaimed international concert artist, will play a very engaging organ recital on Friday, September 30, at 7:30 pm. Thanks to the Italian Institute of Culture for helping us to host Mastro Spanu.

Maestro Spanu’s Pièce de résistance will be the symphonic poem Evocation, a virtuoso work by the late Parisian organist Marcel Dupré, who once ranked our Casavant Organ op. 1130 among the best organs in the country.

Our own Corrado Cavalli will perform on Sunday, October 16 at 3:00 pm.

The Canons invite you to join us at both of these exciting events.
