Catholic Art Guild

The Catholic Art Guild is an all-volunteer, 501c3 non-profit organization created in support of Catholic art and artists. The mission of The Guild is to guide artists toward participation in the new evangelization, thus answering the calls of Pope Saint John Paul II, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, and Pope Paul VI, all of whom encouraged artists to use their gifts to aid the Church and for the greater glory of God. The Catholic Art Guild is a community focused on beauty and its captivating power to convert souls. The Guild is corporeally and spiritually based out of the parish of St. John Cantius in Chicago, IL.

The Charism of our spiritual affiliates, the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius, is “the restoration of the sacred in liturgy, music, and art,” a vision that aligns with our desire to restore the sacred in our artistic vocations. The Canons Regular are known for excellence in all of their endeavors, particularly the liturgy. For more information on the work of the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius, please view this documentary video

The Catholic Art Guild works to support and promote excellence in Catholic Art and in the work of its members.  The Canons Regular provide spiritual support for the mission and the members. In support, the parish will host monthly events geared toward being both educational and community building. The parish will also host a larger event annually; this will include a special mass to pray for the mission of The Catholic Art Guild

The Guild works with the Catholic Marketing Network (CMN) which is a lay apostolate that hosts the largest national Catholic based marketing event in the country. Their annual trade show highlights numerous Catholic retailers, publishers, authors, and clergy, including EWTN television and radio. The CMN Trade Show is an ideal place to network; it assists in reaching a large audience of catholic retailers and publishers, while simultaneously supporting the Guild’s need for community-building.

Please consider becoming part of this exciting and unique initiative. Help us raise awareness for the need of beauty and the power that it has to evangelize souls by uniting with our common vision. As “custodians of Beauty”, artists are given an essential and unique gift for evangelization. This gift can easily be overlooked in this post-modern and utilitarian culture. Beautiful art and architecture are lasting gifts for generations, particularly for the poor. Please consider supporting our mission by becoming a member or simply making a donation. The dues will be used toward the costs of staging events and supporting our mission. We believe the mission can only be realized through prayerful support of its members and the Canons. We ask all members to pray for the mission of this important work of evangelizing to the culture through catholic beauty and art.
