The Mozart Requiem for All Souls: Monday, November 3

Oct. 23, 2014

For centuries Catholics have dedicated All Souls’ Day to the faithful Departed, that is, those who have gone before us marked with the sign of peace, and now await the glory of the Resurrection.

On Monday, November 3rd, the annual All Soul’s Requiem Mass will again be offered by Bishop Joseph N. Perry, Auxilary Bishop of Chicago in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite (1962). The Requiem Mass in D minor (K. 626) by W.A. Mozart will be sung by the St. Cecilia Choir and Orchestra.

Requiem, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 – 1791)
Beati Mortui, Felix Mendelssohn-Barthody (1809 – 1847)
Ave Verum Corpus, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 – 1791)

Note: When celebrating Mass according to the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, when All Souls Day (November 2) falls on a Sunday (as it does in 2014), then All Souls Day is transferred to Monday, November 3.
