First Annual Marian Festival - Photos!

On the weekened of Saturday, May 22, and Pentecost Sunday, May 23, 2010, Saint John Cantius Church held its first annual Marian Festival honoring the Blessed Mother of Our Savior. Saturday was the Spanish-langauage "Festival Mariano" while Pentecost Sunday saw the festivities held in English.At Saturday's "Festival Mariano," hundreds attended the Mass offered by Fr. Eduardo Garcia, SJC. The choral music was provided by the Holy Innocents Choir of Saint John Cantius Church. After Mass there was a luncheon in the lower level of the Church as well as an opportunity to purchase religious articles. At 1:30 p.m. a Eucharistic Holy Hour and Enrollment in the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel took place with a spiritual conference by Fr. Garcia. The day concluded with the outdoor Rosary Procession followed by the Solemn Coronation of Our Lady of Fatima.
Several hundred attended the Marian Fetsival held on Pentecost Sunday. A Solemn Tridentine Latin High Mass was celebrated at 12:30 p.m. with choral music by the St. Cecilia Choir. A luncheon was then served in the lower level of the Church. At 3:00 p.m., a Eucharistic Holy Hour and Enrollment in the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel took place with a spiritual conference by Fr. Rocky Hoffman on “Mary, Mother of the Church.” Ordained by Pope John Paul II for Opus Dei in 1992, Fr. Hoffman serves as the senior director of Mission, Programming, and Development for Relevant Radio in Chicago. The day concluded with the outdoor Rosary Procession followed by the Solemn Coronation of Our Lady of Fatima.
