www.Fatima100Chicago.org

Discover and live the life of Fatima! This May 13th celebrate 100 years of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima with with a special presentation and a candlelight procession on the streets of our city.

For our second event, David Corollo, President of the World Apostolate of Fatima, will speak about the June 13th apparition and its importance for our lives—"What is an Immaculate Heart? How can you find your way in tough times?" After the presentation at Saint John Cantius Church we will have a candlelight procession in the neighborhood of the church.

As we pray for peace in our city, members of the local law enforcement community will carry the statue of Our Lady of Fatima.

The June 13th event is the first of a six-part series of presentations from May to October 2017 commemorating the apparitions. The events are sponsored by the World Apostolate of Fatima, USA and Relevant Radio. Pope Francis has granted to the faithful a special Plenary Indulgence for taking part in the Centennial Celebrations.

This year as we observe the 100th Anniversary of such a significant moment in history, we welcome all, Catholic and non-Catholic alike to come and experience the meaning of the message of Fatima.

About the Film

Ella Cinders is a 1926 American silent comedy film directed by Alfred E. Green, starring Colleen Moore, produced by her husband John McCormick (1893-1961), and co-starring Moore's most popular co-star, Lloyd Hughes. The film is based on the syndicated comic strip of the same name by William M. Conselman and Charles Plumb.

In 2013, Ella Cinders was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

Movie Plot

In the house of late father, Ella Cinders (Colleen Moore) works for her stepmother and two stepsisters, Prissy Pill (Emily Gerdes) and Lotta Pill (Doris Baker), finding support from the local iceman, Waite Lifter (Lloyd Hughes). The Gem Film Company has a contest in which the winner gets an all-expense paid trip to Hollywood and a film role. A photograph is needed to enter, so Ella spends three nights babysitting to raise $3 for the photo session.

However, the photographer unwittingly take a picture of her looking cross-eyed at a fly on her nose which turns out to be the photo entered in the contest. Entrants must go to a Town Hall ball, but Ella's stepmother and stepsisters won't allow her to go. Waite sees her crying on the front steps and tells her he will take her to the ball. She says she has nothing to wear, so he convinces her to use one of her stepsisters' dresses. At the judges' table, her stepsisters react violently when they see the dress. The embarrassed Ella flees the ball, losing one of her slippers.
Later, the judges come to the house and tell Ella that she is the winner because they were amused by the cross-eyed photo. Ella heads for Hollywood, where she is disappointed to discover the contest was a fraud. She nevertheless manages to land a movie contract. Waite turns out to be football hero George Waite, and the two are reunited.

"The Hidden Beauty in the Eucharist, Revealing the Body, Blood, Soul and
Divinity though Sacred Art"
11:00 am, St. John Cantius Auditorium

Synopsis: This presentation will explore beauty, how art can make the invisible visible, and how art can mold matter in a way that leads to adoration of the august mystery of the Eucharist, through the two expressions of sacred art in the Church:

• The Expression for inner disposition through Devotional Art, for ones own faith and piety through the use of signs and symbols, visual and imaginative elements.

• The Ecclesial Dimension of Sacred Art, through the use of outward forms such as painting, sculpture and sacred vessels, both collectively and singularly.

Both dimensions will feature examples of historic works as well as work of the presenter in the
Restoration of the Sacred in our times.

Bio: Jed Gibbons is a working artist and designer in Chicago IL. He graduated from Kendall College of Design in Grand Rapids MI in 1978, and has studied ne art at the Art Institute of Chicago. Jed worked in
